Needs

It's been some time since technology took over homes, first at the hand of telecommunications and computers and later with audiovisual equipment, automation and control. If we add security systems to this, we have a close up look at the current situation of technology in the home.

Now the user's challenge is to make these four differentiated systems (automation, telecommunications, audiovisuals and security) co-exist in an integrated manner within the home in a way that is easy and intuitive to use.

This case involves a large, single family villa in which the owners wanted to have all the infrastructures and systems necessary to achieve maximum comfort and security. They also wanted to incorporate audiovisual equipment and other home entertainment technology. At the same time, they wanted the system to be simple to use.

Everything had to be properly centralised and interconnected in a global system which could be controlled in local interfaces through general appliances (television, mobile telephones) with remote control capacity. One of the most important features of the system is the use of wireless home automation remote controls (mobile telephones or PDA?s with Wi-Fi) with coverage throughout the villa. Thanks to advanced technological infrastructure we can do all this while providing personalised coverage of home services, depending on the user, the needs and the chosen interface.


Solution

This is one of the most habitual scenarios in our company, but it?s still a challenge because every case is different and every user has unique, well-defined, personal requirements. Therefore, each requires, the systems and the equipment they are integrating have their own, special configuration.

However, including a centralised monitoring and integration platform in our design makes it possible to adapt the system to the specific needs with the full guarantee and quality that each user deserves from us. This platform permits, on the one hand, interconnection of all systems for integrated management of each element. On the other hand, it also makes it possible to configure fundamental parameters in a way that adapts all systems to the particular needs of each user.

The key to centralised management of the villa is having systems interconnected in a Multiservice Network extended through a high speed structured cable or by wireless networks that provide wide, high speed coverage; both networks are equipped with IP protocol technologies that connect all of the home's systems with a high availability central server.

A complete HOME AUTOMATION system is distributed throughout the different areas of the villa with individual controls for lighting, air conditioning and heating, blinds, awnings, outdoor irrigation, etc. A central meteorology station provides local climate data and relevant information for the automation and control systems.

In SECURITY, the villa and property are equipped with a security system both inside the villa and along the perimeter of the property with infra-red detectors, microwaves and wires with sensors to detect access to the exterior area or in any part of the home interior. Video surveillance cameras run around the whole area and provide preventive motion surveillance; they will be focus on the point of entry in the event of intrusion or alarm.

AUDIOVISUAL systems with appliances located throughout the villa, with home entertainment content, television, intercom systems and ambience sound systems as well as centralised audio and video are all a part of the system. What's more, all technological infrastructures are harmoniously integrated into the interior decoration.
